Peer Recovery Services Overview

Lived experience and success in recovery can provide hope that wellness is achievable. A peer support is a self-identified person with lived experience of a mental health condition and/or substance use disorder who is in successful and ongoing recovery and committed to helping others find their path.

What Can Peer Supports Do?

  • Assist in creating a person-driven wellness plan
  • Coach and inspire
  • Connect individuals to peer support groups (AA, NAMI, etc.)
  • Encourage strengths, growth, and resilience
  • Facilitate change
  • Instill hope
  • Provide emotional support

How are Peers Integrated into Services at CBH?

Adult Outpatient Treatment

Peers in this program assist with group programming, follow-up, and providing individualized recovery support.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

Peers in this program are core members of the ACT team. They provide follow-up to mental health service consumers in the community and help individuals stay engaged in their recovery goals.

Crisis Services

Peers in this program assist with persons in crisis working with our Crisis Services staff. Peers are present in the emergency room to provide supportive contact, as well as follow-up during hospitalizations and immediately following discharge.
