Military-Friendly Care

Colonial Behavioral Health offers a variety of confidential outpatient services to active duty, veterans, and their families, including their children. Services are offered on an individual, group, and family-basis depending upon specific needs.

Our staff are trained and experienced in providing sensitive, compassionate and respectful services, including:

  • Pre- and post-deployment assessments
  • Community and family reintegration support
  • Coping skills for the transition to civilian life
  • Connecting individuals to other area services to meet their treatment needs
  • Prevention services to enhance health and wellness, such as family support and education, parenting skills, youth specific groups, and supports in navigating difficult life changes
  • Any other services tailored to meet your specific needs

What is Military/Veteran Friendly?

Military/Veteran friendly provider are defined as having:

  • An identified military liaison to provide an easy transition into services; treating active duty service members, veterans and their family members as a priority population.
  • Clinical staff with direct experience or working knowledge of military culture, including training or practice in military cultural competence and trauma-informed care.
  • Clinical assessments that address trauma or other service-related experiences.
  • Linkage to the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA medical centers) and local military installations/medical facilities.
